DNA Academy Player, Parent, & Coach Workshop

DNA Academy will be presenting an interactive pitching and hitting workshop tailored for 6th – 9th grade baseball players, their parents, and their coaches. The seminar will focus on theory, correcting common faults, and implementing various drills to maximize performance. 

2:00 – 3:00 PM:  Pitching – Mechanics, Control, & Arm Health

·       Biomechanically based pitching presentation with a heightened focus on arm health, throwing to different spots, safely creating movement, and changing speeds and eye levels – not just increasing velocity.

3:00 – 4:00 PM:  Hitting – Developing a Powerful, Repeatable & Efficient Swing

·       Individualized hitting approach with a discussion aimed at correcting common faults, and teaching each athlete how to analyze, self-correct, and troubleshoot to avoid slumps and common pitfalls.

Andy Pohl - DNA Academy Founder Andy Pohl is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Beachwood High School, and has over fifteen years of varsity coaching experience.  He has worked with individual athletes, teams, and organizations teaching the correct physical and mental approach to skill development, training, and competition. Andy has vast experience consulting with school communities, park districts, and youth organizations, and has also led multiple parent workshops designed to help parents understand how they can best support their children and the coaches who serve them.

Phil Turner – Phil is the president of Shaker Travel Baseball and is entering his 27th year as a Shaker summer league coach, tirelessly dedicating his time and energy to continuously enhancing and growing the community-based program. After a great high school career at Shaker, Phil went on to play at Ashland University (NCAA Division 2) from 1991-1994.
